By a work permit a right for employment in Estonia during the term stated in the work permit is granted to an alien who holds a temporary residence permit for study. A work permit may be granted to an alien who has a temporary residence permit for study, if the educational institution has given its consent for study and on condition that the employment shall not hinder the studies of an alien.

• Validity period of the work permit to be granted to an alien may not exceed validity period of the residence permit granted to him or her. The validity period of a work permit may be extended until the expiry date of the residence permit.
