Important points to remember for digital ID users

  • Don’t give your documents to anyone else.
  • Keep your PIN codes in a secret, secure place.
  • If possible, memorize your PIN codes.
  • Do not bend or twist the document.
  • Keep the document from coming into contact with sharp and metal objects (keys, coins).
  • Safeguard the document from sudden fluctuation in temperature, moisture, extended exposure to direct sunlight, chemicals and chemical vapours.
  • Install the latest DigiDoc software on your computer. Download it from www.id.ee.
  • Download updates recommended by your computer’s operating system, security software, web browser and DigiDoc.
  • The Terms of Use for certificates are available at www.id.ee/kasutustingimused.
  • In matters related to electronic use of the ID card, contact the ID help line at 666 8888.

PIN codes lost, stolen or forgotten

To receive new PIN codes, contact a Police and Border Guard Board service office or foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia.

Document lost or stolen

To suspend certificates, call 1777 or 677 3377 If you find your document, you can re-activate certificates at an Estonian Police and Border Guard Board service office or at a foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia.

To invalidate the document, submit an application at an Estonian Police and Border Guard Board service office, in digitally signed form by email to ppa@politsei.ee or apply for a new document.

Personal data have changed

Apply for a new document within 30 days. All previously issued documents (including mobile-ID and digital ID) are invalidated.
