Report lost property to the police

Before you report your lost property item to the police:

  • Check that it is not already among the found property items brought to the police
  • Check your email inbox as well as the junk folder – if there is any information on the lost property item that refers to the owner, the police will contact the owner using the details on the state portal eesti.ee
  • Check your details on the state portal eesti.ee and update them if necessary

Once you find the lost item after sending the notice, inform the police.

Information provided in the notice must be correct. Providing false information is punishable.

In relation to the lost property item, indicate the following:

  • Your name
  • Personal identification code
  • Date of birth
  • Contact details: email address, phone number and home address

In relation to the lost property item, indicate the following:

  • Description of the incident
  • Whether you are the owner or user of the lost property item
  • If you are the user of the lost property item, please add the details of the owner of the item
  • The time when the item was still there
  • The time when you noticed the item was missing
  • Address of the possible location where the item was lost
  • Name of the lost item
  • Numbers related to the lost item – e.g. number of the lost document, IMEI number of the phone, serial numbers of tools, etc.
  • Specific characteristics of the lost item, such as colour, damage, self-made markings
  • If possible, attach a photo of the lost item
