International search and rescue (SAR) conference taking place in Tallinn to focus on innovation
Maritime Search & Rescue 2019 conference will take place in Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel and will begin on Tuesday, May 14th and conclude on Thursday, May 16th. The three-day conference will focus on innovation and use of unmanned watercrafts and aircrafts in search and rescue operations.
„In maritime search and rescue, a quick response time can be vital, hence, finding new solutions and technologies to support this, is important for preservation of life, health and the environment. In addition to technology, collaboration with other countries is of critical importance to ensure effective and safe search and rescue operations for all parties involved," said Kaupo Läänerand, head of the Fleet in the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (EPBGB) and Chairman of Maritime Search & Rescue 2019.
The fourth international SAR conference will focus on the future of search and rescue. Topics such as use of unmanned watercrafts and aircrafts, tighter collaboration between countries, but also between educational institutions and companies, and resolving complex maritime operations (mass rescue; chemical accidents) will be discussed. The Finnish Border Guard has formerly hosted the conference; EPBGB will host the conference for the first time.
More than 200 people from roughly 30 countries across the world will participate. In addition, around 30 companies specialising in the maritime sector will be present.
The Conference is hosted by Estonian Police and Border Guard Board and organised by Defence Leaders (UK). Main sponsor for the event is Baltic Workboats.
