Extending the right of residence
What do I need to do to apply for extension of the right of temporary residence?
- Apply for extension of the right of residence at least 1 month before expiry.
- Submit the required documents and pay the state fee.
- Applications submitted in due time are answered no later than 10 days before the expiry of the valid right of residence.
If your fingerprints were taken within the last 6 years and you have a valid residence card, you can also have your right of residence extended by e-mail.
What documents are needed to apply for the extension of the right of temporary residence?
If you apply for an extension of the right of residence, you must submit:
- temporary right of residence application form
- the details of your close relatives and family members, if there are any changes
- EU citizen’s confirmation for the settlement of a family member in Estonia
- a document certifying that you are a family member of an EU citizen, for example, a marriage certificate, adoption certificate or other appropriate document
- an identity document
- digital photo
- a document certifying payment of the state fee, e.g., a payment order.
The processor of the application may ask you to submit additional information or documents, if necessary.
