Document pick up in a store

The new document can only be picked up in a store if the applicant has brought a valid document issued by the Police and Border Guard Board.

If there is no valid document, the document will be sent to a PBGB service office based on the applicant’s written request. There is a charge for the delivery to the customer.

The child's document can be picked up from the store by the parent who submitted the document request for the child.

The document can be picked up in certain stores during their opening hours.

There is a charge for collecting the document in a store. You can pay for the service when you collect the document at the service provider.

Prices for picking up the document in a store

For persons over 15 years of age, the cost of picking up the document is €7.3 for each document.

For persons under 15 years of age, the fee is €4.4 for each document.

For persons who have reached the old-age pension and for disabled persons, the fee is €4.4 for each document.

Applying for a residence permit card under ordinary procedure

After your application has been accepted, it will take a maximum of 30 days to prepare your residence permit card under ordinary procedure.

Applying for a residence permit card under expedited procedure

It will take a maximum of 5 working days to prepare a residence permit card applied for under expedited procedure. The time until the residence permit card is issued starts on the working day after the application is submitted.

Applying for the residence permit card from abroad

Ordering a document to a foreign representation will cost €20 in addition to the state fee.

In exceptional cases, it is possible to apply for the residence permit card from abroad if the child is a foreigner who is not a citizen of a European Union member state, the child has a valid Estonian residence permit or right of residence and the child’s place of residence abroad is registered in the Estonian Population Register.

A residence permit card for a child with undetermined citizenship may not be applied for at a foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia.

It will take a maximum of 30 days to prepare the residence permit card starting from the time at which your application reaches Estonia and is accepted for processing.

If you have ordered your residence permit card to be received abroad in an exceptional case, factor in a longer time, as transport of documents to a foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia takes more time.

In matters pertaining to the document reaching the foreign representation and claiming the document, contact the foreign representation to which you ordered the document.

There is a fee for changing the place where you wish to claim a residence permit card that has already been sent to the foreign representation you initially specified. For more information, consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

Changing the pick-up location of a document

Changing the pick-up location of a document will cost €10.

In Estonia: from a service office to a store or vice versa

Changing the place of issue costs €10.

The place of issue of the document is changed based on an application within 30 days after receiving the state fee.

To claim your new document, bring your old residence permit card.

I will send a person I have authorized to claim the residence permit card

The document will be issued to your representative only if the application was submitted in a service office or foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia and the authorization was submitted already upon submission of the application for the document. If you have authorized someone else to claim your residence permit card, they must bring with them their own valid Estonian identity document and your old residence permit card.
